Publié le par vivi

"With views of Turkey's hills, mosques, and ornate architecture on both the Asian and European continents, The Scholat Ship berthed in a prome location in Istanbul on 1 April. We were excited to experience the city formerly known as Constantinople, a storied metropolis incredibly rich in history and renowned for its unique dual influence of both Islamic and European cultures.

The final Academic Field Programs of the voyage began the next day, starting with a visit to the campus of Istanbul Bilgi University, The Scholar Ship's academic in-country partner. The AFPs brought us on site visits to locations as varied as the famous Blue Mosque, a news agency, a rug factory, the British Consulate, and Topkapi Palace.

The rest of the week was spent exploring the cobblestone city, taking in the smells of the Spice Bazaar, the sounds of commerce in the famous Grand Bazaar, and of course the dozens of millennia-old mosques troughout the city. The ship departed on 7 April and we resumed our studying in anticipation of finals, which begin today.

We are in awe that there are a mere ten days left in the voyage. Once finals are behind us, we will continue planning our group travel in europe after the voyage and begin the long process of saying goodbye."
